Ultramarathon "Cēsis ECO Trail" Regulations of 2019.

 

1. AIM

  • To promote sport and physical activities.
  • To promote long-distance running and Nordic walking in nature in a beautiful landscape.
  • To determine the best athletes in running long distances.
  • To promote Cesis city and its surroundings, Amata and Priekuli counties and the Gauja National Park.

2. COMPETITION MANAGEMENT

  • The competition is organized by the association "Meža taku skrējieni" and Cesis County Council in cooperation with Amata County and Priekuli Municipality.

3. PLACE AND TIME

  • The race will take place on August 3, 2019
  • Start for 50+ km and 80+ km distances in skiing and biathlon centre "Cesis" on August 3 at 5.00.
  • Start for children in 650 m distance at 10.30 in Cesis, Rozu Square.
  • Start for 7+ km and 26+ km distances on August 3 at 11.00 , Rozu Square.
  • For all distances finish in Cesis, Rozu Square.

4. TRACKS

80+ km (1610/1560 hm, 3 ITRA points)

  • Route: skiing and biathlon centre "Cesis" in Vaive Grava - Raunis - Vaives Mill - Garkalne - Kazu Grava - Purmaļi - Janmuiza - Erglu Cliffs - Lenci - Pipariņi - Siļķu Forest - Priedes Street - Jēkaba ​​Street - Zagarkalns Campsite - Spogulu Cliffs - Ozolkalns Campsite – Briedīši – Rakši – Valukalns – Ozolkalns – Zagarkalns – Cīrulīši – Forest School – Viestura Street – Rozu Square.
  • Start on August 3, at 5.00 at the skiing and biathlon centre "Cesis".
  • Time limit - 14 hours.
  • Checkpoints: electronical and manual (number and locations will be specified).

  • In Cesis ECO Trail 2019 also younger participants than specified in the regulations, may take part, but provided that one of the parents takes part in the race or during the event at the venue and assumes responsibility for the competitor's fitness for the distance.

 6.2.

  • 7+ km distance participation fee includes: personalized participant's number (for participants who have registered on the Internet), snacks and drinks at the finish, counting of results at the finish, track marking, the work of judges, first medical assistance at the venue, organizing of competitions, a commemorative medal for each finisher .
  • 26+ km distance participation fee includes: personalized participant number (for participants registered on the Internet), snacks and drinks on track and finish, track record at the finish and intermediate finishes, track marking, the work of judges, first medical assistance at the venue, organizing expenses of competitions, a commemorative medal for each finisher.
  • 50+ km distance participation fee includes: personalized participant number (for participants registered on the Internet), snacks and drinks on track and finish, track record at the finish and intermediate finishes, track marking, the work of judges, first medical assistance at the venue, organizing expense of competitions , a commemorative medal for each finisher.
  • 80+ km distance participation fee includes: personalized participant number (for participants registered on the Internet), snacks and drinks on track and finish, track record at the finish and intermediate finishes, track marking, the work of judges, first medical assistance at the venue, organizing expenses, commemorative medal for each finisher.
  • If a participant withdraws its membership, the membership fee is not refunded.
  • Participation fee is not refunded in case of Force Majeure.

 6.3.

MTS invites to help  31 year old Zane Tipane who had spastic paraplegia in adolescence (Strumpell disease with lower paraparesis). It manifests itself in increasing muscle weakness, gait, movement disorder and spasticity. Because of the disease, Zane has been in a wheelchair for six years now. Her goal is to stand up again, a dream - to regain her ability to walk. Regular and intensive rehabilitation can help. In order to ensure this, € 11,226 is needed during the year. Zane's family does not have such funds, so public support is being sought. Let's help Zane to walk again and be among us!.

It is possible to donate, together with the participation fee for any of the CET distances, by transferring any amount of money with the indication "Zanei" to the society " Meža taku skrējieni" at your own discretion and possibilities. On August 3, on the day of the competition, the amount of money collected and transferred to the rehabilitation for Zane Tipane will be announced.

7. SNACK POINTS

7.1 Assortment of food and beverages

  • Fruits (bananas, oranges, watermelons ), dried fruits, biscuits, pickled cucumbers, olives, potato crisps, chocolate, sports drinks, cola drinks, water. The variety of snacks at different points is acceptable.
  • At snack points, athletes must come with their own cups. Organizers will not provide them!
  • Water provided by organizers for snack points is for drinking only! You can cool off and rinse in many streams, rivers at the edge of the track.

7.2 The places of snack points:

80+ km distance

  1. 18 km - Vaives Mill.
  2. 28 km - house "Aizpurvītes".
  3. 39 km - Ergļi cliffs.
  4. 50 km - Zagarkalns campsite.
  5. 66 km - house "Saulītes".

50+ km distance

  1. 18 km - Vaives Mill.
  2. 28 km - house "Aizpurvītes".
  3. 39 km - Ergļi cliffs.

26 + km distance

  1. 5 km - house "Aizpurvītes " 
  2. 17 km - Ergļi cliffs.

7.3. Before the start 80+ km and 50+ distance runners will be able to hand over bags with their own items - exchange or unnecessary clothing, footwear and snacks in Biathlon and skiing centre "Cesis" until 4.50 – that will be delivered by CET organizers to the 50th km - snack point " Zagarkalns campsite " (80+ km distance) - and / or back to the finish at the Rozu Square ( both distances).

8. THE HEALTH AND EQUIPMENT OF THE RUNNERS.

8.1. Each athlete assumes full responsibility for the compliance of his or her state of health with the distance in question and confirms it with a signature when receiving participant`s number.

8.2. Organizers are not responsible for possible injuries or accidents during the race.

8.3. In case of a participant's withdrawal, the organizers will not provide access to the finish. In case of health problems, the help of judges and other participants of the competition should be used to solve the situation and to contact the organizers of the competition by calling +371 22063660.

8.4. Organizers of the race have authorized the judges of the track to follow the course of the race in order to control to compliance with the regulations of self-sufficiency to the maximum. assisting athlete supporters on the track, except when medical help is required.

8.5. The fans must not be on the track with the athletes.  It is prohibited to follow the athletes on bikes.

8.6. During the race, the judges have the right to suspend the athlete temporarily to arrange the participant's number if it is torn or not visible.

8.7. If a participant starts with walking sticks, they should be carried along the distance.

8.8. Required equipment for (26+ km; 50+ km; 80+ km) distance participants:

  • charged mobile phone (with the possibility to call) with added competition administration / doctor phone numbers
  • medical patches
  • a cup for drinking
  • at least 0.75 l at the start of the liquid (water, sports drink, e.t.c.)
  • mandatory equipment, except for liquids, must be kept to the finish; track judges have the right to inspect the equipment

8.9. Recommended equipment for 7+ km distance participants:

  • charged mobile phone (with the possibility to call) with added competition administration / doctor phone numbers
  • 0.5 l of the liquid at the start (water, sports drink, etc.)

8. COMPETITION PROGRAMME.

9.1. 

  • 02.08 at 19:00 - 21:00 - receiving of numbers and registration of new participants at Liela Skolas street 6, Cesis.

9.2.

  • 03.08. at 3.00–4.00 - receiving and registration of numbers for participants of 50+ km and 80+ km distances ONLY at Liela Skolas street 6, Cesis.  
  • At 4.10–4.20 - Departure of 50+ km and 80+ km distance by bus to the starting point, biathlon and ski centre "Cesis" in Vaives Grava. Whether or not a participant needs this service, must be notified when registering for the event.
  • 5.00 - Start for the participants of 50+ km and 80+ km distances.

P.S. There will be an opportunity to apply for accommodation in Cesis in advance. Information will follow.

9.3

  • 03.08. at 9.00 - 10.30 - receiving of numbers and registration of new participants for 7+ km and 26+ km distances at Liela Skolas street 6, Cesis.
  • 9.00 - 10.15 - receiving of numbers and registration of new members for children's run at Liela Skolas street 6, Cesis.
  • 10.30 - start for 650m children`s race
  • 11.00 - start for 7 km, 26+ km distances
  • 11.30 - Award of the winners of the children's race
  • 13.00 - Award of the winners of 7 km distance
  • 15.00 - Award of the winners of 26+ km and 50+ km distances
  • 17.00 - Award of 80+ km ultramarathon winners

10. AWARDING

10.1. Runners:

  • Absolute winners (1st to 3rd place winners) in the category of women and men 7 + km, 26+ km, 50+ km and 80+ km will be rewarded with commemorative prizes.
  • 7+ km   26+ km, 50+ km and 80+ km distances 1–3 winners will be awarded with diplomas in each age group (regardless of the number of participants).

10.2. Nordic Walkers:

  • By casting lots three walkers finishers will be awarded of 7+ km, 26+ km and 50+ km distances

10.3. All participants who finish 7+ km, 26+ km, 50+ km and 80+ km receive commemorative medals.

11. TRACK MARKINGS

11.1. The tracks are marked with colourful signs. Additional warning signs will be posted before dangerous places - ditches, bogs, steep slopes or traffic routes.

11.2. Labels will be posted 3 to 4 days before the start of the race.

11.3. If you are lost during the race or don't see the label for a while, try to return to the place where you last saw it. If you think the label is wrong, call the judge and follow his instructions, but don't change it yourself.

11.4. Labels must not be damaged, if you see that it is done, place or put them back.

12. JUDGMENT, PENALTIES AND DISQUALIFICATION

12.1. Electronic time control system is used to record results (7+ km, 26+ km, 50+ km and 80+ km distances).

12.2. Organizers have the right to disqualify a participant if he / she does not comply with the norms of public order and requirements specified in the regulations.

12.3. Organizers have the right to disqualify a participant if it is seen that he / she is not able to continue the race.

12.4. It is forbidden to give any help to athletes from outside. Failure to comply with this rule will result in disqualification of the athlete.

12.5. Penalties for Cesis ECO Trail 2019 Terms of Service Violations:

  • no visible athlete number - warning
  • missing any required equipment position - + 4 h
  • unauthorized assistance to an athlete on the track - disqualification
  • failure to provide assistance to other athletes in case of need - disqualification
  • missing a mark about the checkpoint crossing - disqualification

12.6. It is possible to check the equipment before the start of the participant and after the finish.

13. PHOTOS

During the race, photographers who will record the course of the race will be working at the start / finish place as well as on the track in separate places. The organizers have the right to use the photos and video material taken during the Cesis ECO Trail 2019 for marketing and advertising purposes without coordination with the people seen.

14. GENERAL PROVISIONS

14.1. All participants must abide by the rules of mutual kindness and assistance, must not refuse assistance in cases of injury and other problems.

14.2. The competition takes place in the territory of the Gauja National Park, therefore, the binding rules of behaviour in it must be observed. It is forbidden to discard waste at the edges of the track, for example, the packaging of used goods. They must be delivered to the waste bags at the snack points or to the finish.

14.3. The route of the race track shall be crossed or driven by public road, therefore, when moving or crossing it, the norms of the Republic of Latvia Traffic Regulations shall be observed.

14.4. The race track is not a private area of ​​the Cesis Eco Trail organizers, so other people, economic activities and traffic flow there should be treated with respect and understanding. Dignity and understanding should be handled by the competition staff, volunteers and judges.

14.5. If you see that an athlete needs medical attention on the track, call the mobile phone number on the participant's number and help get to the nearest settlement or snack point.

14.6. Exceeding other participants, this must be done without endangering oneself, other athletes and tourists, and should be done courteously.

14.7. When registering for the race, the participant confirms that he / she is familiar with the regulations and agrees with the rules.

14.8. Upon registration, the participant agrees to collect, process and disclose his / her personal data for running the race in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR").

In order to ensure the running of the race, the participant agrees that personal data will be transferred to the following external service providers:

15. CHANGES IN THE REGULATIONS

15.1. Organizers have the right to make changes and additions to the regulations until 03.07.2019

15.2. The organizers are not responsible for the fact that the participant is not familiar with the regulations.
