Night marathon "ZILONIS BABĪTĒ 2020"

1. The aim and objectives
1.1. To promote sports and physical activities.
1.2. To promote running and Nordic walking in a beautifully landscaped environment at night.
1.3. To popularize Babites region.

2. The management of competition
2.1. The competition is organized by the Association "Forest Trail Running" in cooperation with Babītes region municipality Babite sports complex and Burģis Ltd.

3. Place and time
3.1. The date of event June 6 – 7, 2020.
3.2. The start and finish of the competition – the Recreation complex and camping "Bejas".

4. Tracks

  • Start – June 6 at 23:59.
  • Time limit –  6 hours.
  • Control points: manual (the number and locations will be specified).
  • One snack / drinks point (see clause 7).
  • Awarding - at 05:00.

12+ km

  • Start – June 6 at 23:59.
  • Time limit – 2 hours.
  • Control points: manual (the number and locations will be specified).
  • Snack points – no.
  • Awarding - at 02:00.

The age groups of participants
Athletes who have reached the following age at the start date are allowed to compete in the competition:

  • The race may also be attended by younger members than specified in the regulations, but on condition that one of the parents participates in the race or at the venue of the competition and assumes full responsibility for the participant's health compliance with the distance.

6. Membership fee and registration
6.1. Registration of participants takes place on the Internet -

6.3.The membership fee is the same for both runners and walkers.

6.4. Participation fee includes: a personalized participant's number (for participants registered before June 1, 2020), snacks and drinks on the track and the finish, record keeping at the finish, track marking, work of judges, first medical aid at the competition venue and the expenses of organizing events.
6.5. If a participant withdraws his/her membership, the membership fee will not be refunded.
6.6. The membership fee is also not refundable in cases of Force Majeure.

7. Snack points

Each participant has to enter it with their own drinking bottle as the feeding/water points will not have any plastic or paper cups available. MTS strongly opposes unneeded wastage and careless use of natural resources.

Food and drink assortment:
Fruits, dried fruits, biscuits,freshly- salted cucumbers, olives, potato chips, chocolate, sport drinks, Coca-Cola drink, water. The difference in range of snack assortment available at different points is acceptable.

8. The condition of health and equipment of runners
8.1. Each participant assumes full responsibility for the compliance of his / her state of health with the distance involved and confirms it with a signature receiving the participant's number.
8.2 The event organizers are not responsible for possible injuries or accidents of competitors during the race.
8.3. In case of a participant's withdrawal, the event organizers do not ensure that the participant reaches the finish line. In case of a health problem, the assistance of the judges and other competitors must be used to resolve the situation and contact the organizers of the event on the phone number +371 22063660.
8.4. The race organizers have authorized the track judges to follow the race so that the rules of self-sufficiency are met as much as possible, excluding any support for an athlete, unless medical assistance is required.
8.5. Fans must not be at snack points, must not help in the maintenance, removal of equipment, serving of food and drink, and must not be with the athlete on the track. It is also prohibited to follow the athletes on bicycles.
8.6. In the course of the race, the referees have the right to temporarily suspend the athlete to arrange the participant's number if it is broken or otherwise unseen.
8.7. If a competitor starts with sticks, they must be carried all the distance.
8.8. The mandatory equipment for all competitors:

The mandatory equipment must be kept to the finish line, and the race judges have the right to perform check on the mandatory equipment.

9. Awarding
9.1 The absolute winners (from1st to 3rd place winners) will be awarded in the category of women and men in each distance.
9.2 Winners of the 1st to 3rd place will be rewarded with diplom in each age group.
9.3 Every participant, who will finish the race, will receive a commemorative medal.
9.4. All expenses related to the awarding of winners and the production and purchase of commemorative medals shall be covered by Babite sports complex of Babite region municipality.

10. Awarding un competion programme

06.06. at 21.00 - 23.45  receiving of numbers and registration of new participants;
          at 23.59  start fo 12+ km un 29+ km  distances;
07.06  at 02:00 awarding for participants of 12+ km distance
          at 05:00 awarding for participants of 29+ km distance

11. Track markings

11.1. The tracks are marked with red-white plastic strips and yellow reflective elements. In the crossroads or at the axis turns of the route, additional directions will be used - red arrows on a white background, before the dangerous places - ditches, soothsayers, steep slopes or traffic roads additional warning signs will be displayed.
11.2. The markings will be placed 1-2 days before the start of the competition.
11.3. If you get lost during the competition or do not see the markings for some time, try to return to the place where you last saw the marking. If you think that the marking is wrong, call the judge and follow his instructions, but do not change them.
11.4 Markings must not be damaged or torn, and if you see that it is done, place or tie the them back.

12. Judgment, penalties and disqualification
12.1. An electronic time control system is used to record the results.
12.2. Organizers have the right to disqualify a competitor if he fails to comply with the requirements of the public order rules and the regulations of the race.
12.3. Organizers have the right to disqualify a competitor if it is seen that he / she is not able to continue participating in the race.
12.4. Any help for athletes from the outside is forbidden. In casr of non-compliance with this provision, the athlete is disqualified.
12.5 Penalties for violation of the "Zilonis Babite 2020" Regulations:
The athlete's number is not clearly seen - a warning;
The position of a mandatory equipment is missing(on the track and at the finish) + 4 h.
Unauthorized assistance to the athlete on the track - disqualification;
Failure to provide assistance to other athletes if necessary - disqualification;
Missing check mark for the crossing of checkpoint - disqualification.

13. Photo
During the race, at the start / finish, as well as on the track in some places, the photographers will work who will take photos during the race. The organizers have the right to use the competition photos and video materials for marketing and advertising purposes without the consent of the people seen on them.
14. General terms
14.1. All participants must respect the rules of mutual kindness and assistance - not to refuse assistance in case of injuries or other problems.
14.2. No waste can be left, for example, packaging of used goods. They must be delivered to the garbage cans at the snack stations or until the finish or left on the track under the marking.
14.3. The race tracks cross or, in some places, go along public roads, therefore, when moving along or crossing them, the norms of the Republic of Latvia Traffic Regulations must be observed.
14.4. The race track is not a private territory for organizers, and therefore, other people, economic activity and traffic should be treated with respect and understanding. Respect and awareness of the competition for volunteers and judges.
14.5.. If you see that an athlete needs medical assistance on the track, call the mobile number listed and help him/her reach the nearest populated area or a snack point.
14.6. When overtaking other athletes, this should be done without endangering yourself or other athletes and tourists and should be done politely.
14.7. When registering for a race, the participant confirms that he/she has read the regulations and agrees to the rules.

14.8. By registering for the race, the participant agrees to collection, processing and publication of personal data for provision of the race in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”).

15.Changes to the regulations
15.1. The organizers have the right to make changes and additions to the Regulations by 06.05.2020.
15.2. The organizers are not responsible for the fact that the participants are not familiar with the regulations.
