„Cēsis Eco Trail” rules for year 2017

Participants who manage do to race in 19 hours will receive 3 Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc® qualifying points.

1. Aim of the event

1.1    To promote healthy and active lifestyle;

1.2 To promote long-distance running and Nordic walking;

1.3 To determine best trail runners;

1.4 To promote sport and outdoor leisure activities in Cēsis and Gauja National park area. 

2. Organizers

2.1 Meža taku skrējieni in co-operation of Cēsis, Amata, Pārgaujas and Priekuļi municipality.

3.  Time and venue

3.1 Race will commence in 5th of August, start and finish both within Cēsis city

4. Races

  • 114+km (3 UTMB points / 4 ITRA points
  • Start – 4th of August at 24:00
  • Time limit – 19 hours
  • Checkpoints: electronically and manually (number and locations of these checkpoints will be clarified)
  • Food and drink points – 7 (see point No7 of this manual)

42+ km (0 UTMB points/ 2 ITRA point)

  • Start – 5th of August at 11:00
  • Time limit – 8 hours
  • Checkpoints: electronically and manually (number and locations of these checkpoints will be clarified)

23+ km

  • Start – 5th of August at 11.00
  • Time limit – 4 hours
  • Checkpoints: electronically and manually (number and locations of these checkpoints will be clarified)

  • Start – 5th of August at 11.00
  • Time limit – 2 hours

  • Start – 5th of August at 11.00
  • Time limit – 1 hour
  • Checkpoints: manually (number and locations of these checkpoints will be clarified)
  • Food and drink points – none.

650 m

  • Distance is for children that are 2 to 7 years’ old
  • Start – 5th of August at 10:30
  • Time limit – 15 min.
  • Checkpoints – none
  • Food and drink points – none.

  • Younger participants can also participate in Cesis ECO Trail 2017 than it is stated in the regulations, but on the condition that one of the parents is participating in the race or during the competition in sports event takes full responsibility for the participant's health during the race.

6. Participation fee and registration

  • 2,5+km participation fee includes: personalized participant number (for participants that have applied till 21.07.2017.), drink at finish, accounting of the results at the finish, markings of the track, first aid, organizational costs and commemorative medal for each finisher.
  • 6+km, 12+km, 23+km and 42+km distance participants fee includes – personalized number (for participants who have applied till 21.07.2016), food and drinks on the track and at the finish, tracking of the results in checkpoints and at the finish line, track marking, work of judges, first aid, organizational costs, medal for everyone who finishes the track
  • 114+km distance participants fee includes – T-shirt and personalized number (for articipants who have applied till 21.07.2017.), food and drinks on the track and at the finish, tracking of the results in checkpoints and at the finish line, track marking, work of judges, first aid, organizational costs, medal for everyone who finishes the track. 
  • 114+km relay race participants fee includes – T-shirt and personalized number (for those teams who have applied till 21.07.2017.), food and drinks on the track and at the finish, tracking of the results in checkpoints and at the finish line, track marking, work of judges, first aid, organizational costs, medal for everyone who finishes the track.
  • If an athlete decides not to participate, the participation fee is not returned.
  • Participation fee is also not returned in the case of Force Majeure.

7.1 Refreshment points will include

  • Fruits (bananas, oranges), dried fruits, olives, cheese, potato chips, chocolate, sport drinks, water. Offered products might differ in various refreshment points..

8. Equipment and health conditions.
8.1. Each and every participant is fully responsible for his/her health condition and readiness for chosen distance. Upon receiving race bib participant will verify it with signature.
8.2. Organizers of trail bear no responsibility for possible injuries and accidents during race.
8.3. If participant quit race before finish organisers cannot guarantee transportation to main event venue. In case of injuries participant must contact trail crew or require assistance by contacting phone number +37122063660 /  +37129334414
8.4. The organizers of this event have granted the authority to judges to follow the process of the race to avoid any violations of self-sufficiency principles and any assistance to the athletes by the third party, except if the athlete is wounded and medical assistance is needed. 
8.5 Supporters are not permitted in refreshment points, are not allowed to assist with equipment/food/drinks and escort runners in race. 
8.6 Participants (114+km, relay race)  will receive 2 race bibs - big and small one. Big one is to be attached in front part, smallest on – on back. Fitting on backpack is permitted. Jury has rights to stop runners, check race bibs and re-fit them bib if it is not clearly seen.
8.7 If an athlete starts a race with a sticks, the have to be carried by the athlete all the distance. 
8.8 Mandatory equipment for 114+km runners: 
  • mobile phone, charged, with assistance numbers; 
  • survival blanket;
  • adhesive plaster;
  • drinking cup.
  • at least 0,75 l liquid (water, sports drink etc.);
  • obligatory equipment must be kept till the finish line, judges of the race have the authority to check the equipment at any place of the track.
8.9 Suggested equipment for 23 and 31 km runners:
  • mobile phone, charged, with assistance numbers; 
  • at least 0,75 l liquid (water, sports drink etc.).
9. Awards.
9.1 Runners:

  • The winners (1st to 3rd place) will be awarded in female and male category in 6+ km, 12+ km, 23+ km and 42+ km distances.
  • 2.5 + km, 6+ km, 12+ km, 23+km, 42+ km and 114+ km distance 1st to 3rd place winners will be awarded in each age group, regardless of the number of participants.

9.2. Nordic walking: 
  • will Nordic walkers that have finished km 6+, 12+ km 23+ km and 42 km + be awarded, they will be chosen by drawing lots. 
9.3. All the participants that have completed 2,5+km, 6+ km, 12+ km, 23+ km, 42+ km and 114+km distances, will receive commemorative medals.

10. Marking.

10.1 All tracks will be marked with original marking – bright (red/white) plastic belts, signs (red bolt on white background) in sharp turns and crossroads. Red marking with eco-spry will be on trees, stumps and rocks. Before most dangerous places – ditches, swamps, steep slopes or crossroads will be additional warning signs. 

10.2 Markings will be placed 3 to 4 days before race, removed within 3 days after race.

10.3 If participant got lost or do not see marking one must return to place with last visible marking. If there is doubt about correctness of marking, one must contact judge and in no circumstances try to move its location.

10.4 It is forbiden to tier or brake markings, if it is done accidentally, it must be placed back in original position. In key spots of trail crew will help with choosing right direction. 

11. Penalties, disqualification, marking.

11.1 To determine result electronical measurement system will be used in 2,5km, 7km, 17km, 32km and 81 km distance.

11.2 Organizers keep right to disqualify participants who do not obey common decency and rules of Cēsis Eco trail. 

11.3 Organizers keep right to disqualify participants who obviously cannot continue race.

11.4 Any assistance from a side is forbidden and can lead to disqualification. 

11.5 Penalties for Cēsis ECO Trail 2016 regulations violations:

  • Athletes number ias not well seen – warning;
  • Part of obligatory equipment is missing - +4 hours;
  • Forbidden assistance to the athlete on the track – disqualification;
  • Checkpoint passing tag is missing – disqualification.

12. Photos

During race in trail and at start/finish there will be professional photographers. After race it will be possible to order those photos separately. Organizers keep right to use photos and videos from event for marketing and advertising purposes without consent of participants seen in those materials.

13. Important

13.1 All participants are invited to respect others, obey decency and participate in true spirit of sportsmanship. Runners are asked to be helpful and assist ones who might need it. 

13.2 Race will take place in Gauja National Park, so all participants are required to respect environment and leave no trash behind. In refreshment points recycle bins are available. 

13.3 At some points tracks will cross transport roads, traffic laws and common sense must be abided.  

13.4 Track is not property of Cesis Eco trail, runners are asked to show respect and understanding for private properties, traffic, people on their way, stuff of race and other runners.

13.5 If other participant is requiring medical aid, one is obliged to assist. 

13.6 Overtaking other athletes, you must do so without endangering yourself or other athletes and tourists, and you must be polite. 

13.7 By registering to race participants confirm that they have learned the rules and agree with them. Participants agree, that Cesis Eco trail organizers have right to collect runners information (name, surename, birth date) for statistical purposes only according to national regulations.

14. Changes in rules

14.1 Organizers keep right to change rules prior race till 05.07.2017. 

14.2 Organizers do not bear responsibility if participant are not familiar with the rules.
